Superyacht New Build Advisory
Commissioning a new superyacht is one of the most complex and rewarding undertakings in the yachting world. SYG Yachts provides independent owner's representation throughout the entire new build process — from initial concept and naval architecture brief through shipyard selection, contract negotiation, construction oversight, and final sea trials. We work exclusively for the owner, never the yard, ensuring every decision is made in your best interest. Our new build advisory service covers motor yachts, sailing yachts, and explorer vessels from 30 to 120 metres at leading shipyards in Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, and beyond.
Superyacht Refit Management
A superyacht refit — whether a cosmetic refresh or a full technical overhaul — requires the same rigour and expertise as a new build project. SYG Yachts manages every aspect of the refit process: yard selection and tender management, budget control and milestone tracking, quality assurance and change order management, and final delivery inspection. We have experience with refit projects at leading facilities in Viareggio, Palma de Mallorca, Fort Lauderdale, and Singapore, and we bring the same independent, owner-focused approach to every project regardless of scale.
Why Independent Representation Matters
Shipyards and refit facilities are experienced commercial operators with their own interests to protect. Without independent representation, owners frequently encounter cost overruns, schedule delays, and specification compromises that could have been avoided with proper oversight. SYG Yachts acts as your eyes and ears throughout the project — conducting regular site visits, reviewing progress reports, managing change orders, and liaising with classification societies and flag registries on your behalf. Our independence is our most valuable asset: we have no commercial relationship with any shipyard, and our advice is always and only in your interest.
Shipyard Selection & Contract Negotiation
Selecting the right shipyard is one of the most consequential decisions in any new build project. The world's leading superyacht builders — including Lürssen, Feadship, Benetti, Heesen, Oceanco, and Sanlorenzo — each have distinct strengths, specialisations, and production capacities. SYG Yachts conducts independent yard assessments, manages the tender process, and evaluates proposals on your behalf. We then represent your interests in all commercial and legal negotiations, ensuring the build contract protects you at every stage — from payment schedule structuring and milestone definitions through penalty clauses, warranty terms, and change order protocols.
Construction Oversight & Quality Assurance
Once construction begins, the quality of on-site oversight determines whether your project is delivered on time, on budget, and to specification. SYG Yachts provides regular site visits, detailed progress reporting, and proactive management of any issues that arise during the build. We liaise directly with the shipyard's project management team, the classification society surveyor, and any specialist subcontractors — ensuring that every milestone is met and every deviation from specification is identified and resolved before it becomes a costly problem. Our construction oversight service is available for both new builds and major refit projects.
Sea Trials, Delivery & Post-Delivery Support
The final phase of any new build or major refit project — sea trials, punch list management, and formal delivery — is where the quality of the entire process is ultimately tested. SYG Yachts oversees the complete sea trial programme, reviews all technical performance data, manages the punch list process, and ensures that every outstanding item is resolved before you take ownership. We coordinate crew familiarisation, documentation handover, and flag registration, and remain available for post-delivery support as you begin operating your new vessel. Our involvement does not end at the quayside — we are with you for the long term.
